The Leaf Difference
The Leaf Store is your village grocer. Discover a range of curated produce and experience the finest quality and range.
Founded in 2007, the team at Leaf is dedicated to providing you with high-quality ingredients so that you can create and enjoy culinary delights in your home with your family and loved ones.
We are proud to employ so many staff from many corners of the food industry and beyond. We have father and son, mother and daughter, siblings, and other members of our team who have been with us for so long, they are practically family. When you get to know Leaf, this is one of the things you will notice. A feeling of community and family like no other.
At Leaf we believe in keeping food as close to the source as possible. Real food, from the earth. Our passion extends to building relationships with wholesalers and producers to understand their products, supply, farming practices and challenges.
We like to understand how we can do our part in the process to support the grower, bring the freshest and highest quality food to our customers and reduce waste and packaging as often as possible.
When we stumble across an unusual vegetable, dirty bunch of beetroot or “ugly” carrots, we don’t send them back, we put them front and centre! Celebrate real food in all its glory, nourish mind and body with the best produce available.
You will find our 3 stores located in the beautiful bayside nook of Elwood the bustling community of Hawthorn and our newest location in Armadale. All three have their unique nuances, quirks and special features, we have no doubt you will enjoy strolling the aisles, exploring all they have to offer.
Leaf Elwood
Tucked away in the picturesque Suburb of Elwood, is The Leaf Store. Nestled in Ormond Village, it truly defines itself as the Village Grocer.
Leaf Elwood is our founding store which opened in 2007. With limitless charm, over the years it has built up such a strong following of passionate food lovers and those who avidly invest in their health, wellness, and general well-being. We are seeing generations of family members shopping at Leaf. Grandmothers, mothers, and their children walk the aisles and introduce the next generation to real food. We overhear dads visiting with their kids, educating them on the difference between organic and conventionally grown food and what it means to buy local produce. People visit us from all corners of the state to explore the weird and wacky produce we source as well as grabbing some very rare items we are lucky enough to have got our hands on.
We are eternally grateful to have the privilege of serving the community with impeccable in-store, and delivery options to feed themselves and their loved ones. To us, it is a privilege not taken lightly.

From The Founder
To me, Leaf is not a business, it’s a way of life. I feel like I am just the custodian of Leaf, our customers are the ones who have shaped Leaf to what it is today and what it will be in the future. By listening and observing our customers, we react to what they buy. I spend my early mornings visiting the wholesale market with the biggest shopping list you’ve ever seen! I spend time chatting with wholesalers, tasting their produce for quality, freshness and of course, working out what is value. The produce is then loaded onto our trucks and delivered to the store by 8am and straight onto the shelves.
A team of produce professionals are at the stores to receive and unpack the day’s shop, ready to stock the shelves for you and your families to purchase and craft meals out of.
My time spent at the market and liaising with suppliers is pure pleasure. For me, I have the philosophy of “if it’s not good enough to feed my family, it’s not good enough to be in my stores”. I select produce as though I’m shopping for my family.
So welcome to our food paradise, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
