Healthy Mac and Cheese

A family favourite, mac and cheese is a quick and easy dinner which will please the kids, and even the grown ups in the house.

Ingredients

400 g macaroni or pasta elbows
50 g butter
3 tbsp Kialla Organic Plain Flour
2 cups low fat milk
1 1/2 cups low fat cheddar cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Method

  1. In a large pot, add the pasta to rapidly boiling water and cook until tender. Drain.
  2. In a large frying pan, melt the butter and add the flour, stirring constantly.
  3. Cook the flour for a few minutes, being careful not to brown it.
  4. Whisk in the milk, a little at a time until all of it is incorporated and you have a smooth sauce then add the cheese.
  5. When the cheese is all melted, add the pasta and stir to coat all the pieces.
  6. Enjoy!
