Curried Turmeric Meatballs
These delicious Curried Turmeric Meatballs are simple and are just another way you can enjoy the all natural superfood.
Caution – turmeric may leave your hands with a bright orange tinge! Gloves can be worn.

Ingredients
MEATBALLS
1 tbsp olive oil
3 garlic cloves crushed
6-inch piece of ginger grated
6-inch piece of fresh turmeric grated
2 tbsp garam masala
1/2 tsp ground cumin
500 g beef mince
1 egg beaten to blend
3 tbsp plain yoghurt
CURRY
1 tbsp olive oil
2 medium onions diced
4 garlic cloves crushed
3-inch piece of ginger grated
3-inch piece of fresh turmeric grated
2 tsp curry powder
1 tsp garam masala
400g can diced tomatoes
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 cups of water
Method
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Lightly brush a baking tray with oil.
- Puree garlic, ginger, turmeric, garam masala and cumin in a blender until smooth.
- Transfer to a large bowl and add beef, egg and yoghurt. Mix together and roll in to balls
- Place on baking tray, drizzle with oil and bake for 20 – 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat oil in a large pan and add onions, garlic, ginger and turmeric and cook, stirring often for 8 – 10 minutes.
- Stir in curry powder and garam masala. Add tomatoes, salt and 2 cups of water and bring to the boil.
- Reduce heat and leave to simmer for 25 – 30 minutes. Stir in lemon juice and add salt if needed.
- Nestle meatballs into sauce and bring to a simmer, cook until meatballs are heated all the way through and serve.
