Take Me Home

Fresh and homemade meals and pizza bases that you’ll be happy to take home, the Take Me Home team hand make all their products in Coburg using local ingredients where possible.

A family run business, all products are made with extra love and are the perfect solution for the busy family, that are still looking for great taste.

Having sat proudly in our fridges for over a decade, we caught up with the team behind Take Me Home to find out more about their delicious variety of Italian treats.

Who are the team behind Take Me Home and what made you launch?

Trent and Felicity are the Husband and wife team behind Take me home. The business originally began in Gippsland by Felicity’s parents who saw a gap in the market for handcrafted Italian meals. The business quickly grew and Felicity’s parents wanted to retire (to a Farm in Thorpdale which now grows some of our ingredients) so Trent and Felicity left their respective jobs and brought Take me home to Melbourne, over 10 years ago now.

What does a day in the life of the Take Me Home team look like?

We create all of our lasagnes and pizza bases from scratch so our days may include cooking beef bolognese for 4 hours, making fresh pasta sheets, making pizza dough,  grating cheese, chopping and cooking of veggies for lasagnes and sauces. Then of course we can be actually making the lasagnes and pizza bases all by hand.

What was involved in developing the range of Take Me Home?

When we started the business we offered fresh pastas, pizza bases, sauces and a couple of lasagnes. We soon realised our strength was in our pizza bases and Lasagnes so we’ve focused on these. We now offer a variety of pizza bases and have 13 different types of Lasagnes – something for everyone! Our whole range is handmade, traditional Italian recipes (the recipes my family has been using for generations), highest quality and No additives or preservatives.

If you had to choose, what would be your favourite Take Me Home recipe?

Pizza bases! They’re just so damn tasty, versatile and easy! Our favourite is a potato pizza – thinly slice potato and boil with a sprig of rosemary until soft. Add cooked potato to top of pizza add some more rosemary, a sprinkle of salt and pepper then add some sliced bocconcini and cook in a hot oven until base is crispy and toppings are cooked. Tip – make sure the oven is hot before putting the pizza in, and cook directly on the wire rack to help crisp up the base. Also remember less is more when it comes to toppings!

What has been your greatest achievement to date?

Adding a baby girl, Valente, to the team and being in business for over 10 years!

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only take 3 things, what would they be?

Fresh pasta – imagine the pasta marinara I can make with all that seafood, Pizza base – imagine the pizza I can make with all those prawns, and A large beef lasagne – for when I get sick of seafood!!
