Binning the Bag

As of January 1, 2018, we will no longer offer single use plastic bags.

Being located so close to a sensitive foreshore area, we need to make sure our bay is as clean as possible and so we have decided to get rid of single use plastic bags as of next year.

This decision is also in line with the announcement from the Victorian government that they will be banned state wide in the near future.

Rather than offer single use plastic bags, we encourage you to bring your own bags, containers and baskets. We will also have our Boomerang Bags available for free, as well as cardboard boxes which we are happy for you to return. We will also continue to have an extensive range of our reusable Leaf bags available for sale, as well as our reusable paper bags on offer for just 20 cents each.

Excitingly, we will also be the first retailer in Australia to offer landfill biodegradable produce bags, which are 100% degradable under typical landfill. To put it simply, these bags, which can be disposed of in your general waste bin, will completely break down much faster than traditional plastics which have an indefinite life span. These bags will available to use for produce, and available at the counter for small purchases.

We hope to make the transition as seamless as possible and hope you can join us in our mission to reduce the reliance on plastic, and help our environment now, and into the future.
